Chromate Conversion Coatings, sometimes called Chromate or Chem-Film, refers to applying a thin barrier coating on the substrate to passivate aluminum alloys to slow the formation of corrosion. The film improves paint adhesion on aluminum alloys and die castings.  Chromate has no measurable thickness.

Features & Benefits of Chromate Conversion

  • Low Electrical Resistance
  • Good Corrosion Resistance
  • No Measurable Buildup
  • Excellent Paint Adhesion
  • For parts requiring masking

Chromate Conversion Finishing Options Available:

  • Type 1 – Hexavalent
  • Class 1A – Yellow to Brown in Color for maximum protection against corrosion and for painted or left unpainted surfaces.
  • Class 3 – Clear to iridescent yellow. This is for protection against corrosion or where lower electrical resistance is desired.
  • Type 2 – RoHS
  • Class 1A – Clear in color (Can have a blue tint).
  • Class 3 – Clear in color (Can have a blue tint).
